After the rut is over, what to do to lure them in?

by Rafi Sagherian
(Ontario, Canada)

Usually we go moose hunting later on in the season. Typically 3 weeks after the rifle season is open. By this time the rut is almost certain to be over.

1. Is it effective to use a call after the rut is over? Which call do you recommend (Cow/Bull)?

2. Is it effective to use some sort of a Moose Scent after the rut?

Thanks for your question Rafi. Have a read over at hunting moose in the late season and see if this answers your questions about calling after the rut is over.

If not, be sure to post back here and I'll try to be more specific.

As for using scents after the rut is over or during the late season. If you have access to them why not put them to use. Don't forget that cows can come into heat later in the season; by using scents to attract moose you are using another tool in the moose hunters arsenal.

Good luck on your hunt!
All the best,

Mark
