Who says you can't call moose in the late season?

If some one wants to tell you you can't call moose out in January that is not so.

My hunt opened up on January 15th-28th 2018 it is an elk season but you can buy one of either 1 Elk or 1 Moose.

So I chose to take a moose. This guy fell in his tracks at approximately 425 to 450 yards, he walked out of the bush into a field and I put all my faith into my 7mm-rem-mag with my own handloads and powder compressed with a Barnes TTSX 160 grain bullet.

Hope to enjoy it in a couple of weeks, my wife will have a pot of stew and some garlic toast on menu. Yummy yum yum!

Well now, that's a new one on me! Calling moose in January is probably not something that most moose hunter would ever try... myself included.

It appears your bull is a yearling, so maybe he thought his mamma was calling him? Or, just being curious as to why a cow moose would be bawling during the middle of winter!

The breeding season for moose is well over, even for cows that didn't get bred during the main rut. In my opinion there is no way that that bull was coming thinking he was going to get a chance to breed a cow.

Facts are facts however! You called, the bull came and now he resides in your freezer. Good on you. He looks as though he will be a good eater!

Racket

This guy (the moose), like Mark said, he did not come out to breed, he just heard a bunch of racket and came out to see what was up.That was his first mistake and sounds like his last.
