Northwestern Colorado Moose Hunt

Drawing an in-state moose tag as a resident of Colorado is a long process...

My dad put in for 12 years before he finally drew a antlerless tag for GMU 171 in Northwestern Colorado.

The hunting was hard that year because the weather was warm and the moose were up high in country normally reserved for elk.

On the last day of our hunt, in the dwindling hours of day, he finally pulled the trigger on this very large cow. It was an emotional moment for us and definitely a rewarding hunt.

We worked hard into the night and the fresh cooked liver we ate upon arriving back at camp was still one of the best meals I've ever eaten.
