Long white hair

by Karen Brewer
(Palmer AK)

I recently encountered an adult female moose trying to get into our garden. She had what I would call a "ponytail" right behind the hump on her back. It was very long and snow white. It appeared to be just hair and it hung down over her side to just below her belly. I have never seen this before and was wondering if you might be able to tell me something about it. Thank you.
