After shooting many brands and makes of rifles and ammo, I Remington 700 CDL 30.06 Springfield is my "go-to" gun for hunting. It is a joy to shoot. Heavier guns and ammo produce much more recoil than the 30.06 which makes it a chore to shoot them. Lesser ammo and guns can take a few more rounds to put big game down. With longer shooting distances than used with the 30.06, windage and elevation can play with the round creating misses and wounded animals. I reckon that since I am a senior hunter and grew up with Remington, that's why my Remington 30.06 is like an old friend when I pick it up. When I pick up my rifle, my memory flashes back to many a long successful hunt in the rocky mountains and all the good times we had together.
