Desert Quail!!

(Fort Knox, Kentucky was stationed at FT Bliss in El Paso Tx. Thats where the recipe came from.)

Once your done combing the desert for some Gambels or Scale quail and you are good enough to hit a few you can make this recipe.

10-12 quail breast( only the breast)
Soak in salt water over night.
Check over breasts for any left over shot.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a mixing bowl with lid, put in about 10 quartered new potatoes. Drench in olive oil, add some garlic powder, some onion powder and a little seasoning salt. Shake bowl with lid to coat all the potatoes.
Remove from bowl and put onto baking stone( or long flat cookie sheet).

Next repeat steps for the quail breasts and add to baking stone or cookie sheet.

Arrange so its some potatoes then breast etc. You could add a little chopped carrots or onions to this.

Cook in oven for about 30 minutes, watch carefully to ensure meat is done and it does not get over cooked.

Serve on a plate.

Caution while eating, there may be a shot or two left in the breasts. This is simple but quite good.

Enjoy!
