DOM Tube and C1045 Axle Pin
I can’t seem to get the DOM Tube to slide over the 1.5 OD 1045 bar! Got any suggestions?
Chris, this has been a problem for a couple of guys, so you are not alone. DOM tube is well known for fitting over standard dimension rod (in this case C1045) without any issues. However, manufacturers have the leeway and tolerance to make DOM a little bit under-size which can occasionally screw up a fabrication.
You have a couple options:
The easiest being taking the C1045 to a machine shop and have them turn it down to fit the DOM.
If you already have the rod welded in place, the your other option is to take the DOM to a machine shop and have them bore it out to fit the rod.
The last option would be to source a new piece of 1.5" Diameter DOM that measures larger the the C1045 rod does.
I know this is a real PITA, but what can we do?
