Tracking Moose

When tracking moose remember they always like to make a circle & lay down wind of their trail they just came in on so they can watch to see any predators or humans that are following them. Then they can be up & gone the other way.

When tracking moose, as the writer has stated:
"they always like to make a circle & lay downwind of their trail they just came in on so they can watch to see any predators or humans that are following them"

Sometimes while tracking you will find a moose track at 90 degrees from the one you are following... one must consider the possibility that this "new" track may indeed be from the same moose you are following and it is just on its circling pattern before beading down.

When following tracks take note of the direction of travel. When possible use the tracking feature on your GPS so you can see in real time the path you are following.

A good GPS such as the Garmin 450 has this capability and this feature comes in very handy to be able to see where you have or haven't been covering on the terrain you hunt.
