What call do I make once I hear a bull scrape branches

by Luke
(Timmins, ontario)

I'm in my stand, making cow calls, attempting to bring in this timid bull. At one point, the bull makes scraping noises on a branch with his antlers and snapped a big branch.
Right away, I returned a response by scrapping a branch and making low soft bull calls.

This cause the hunt to end. The bull went quiet and I couldn't get it back to me.

What is the right response when a bull demonstrates his dominance like that?

Luke, it sounds to me that you did everything right. One other thing that may have helped would be to do some cow calls. A timid bull may be just that, afraid to get beat up by the big resident bull. But, if he thought there was a cow in estrus, that could have been a game changer.
Good luck and keep us posted.
