It's spring. No young moose calves yet!

Spotted them on side of Hwy 535 near Sudbury Ontario.

Yes spring is in the air, and it's soon time for the cow moose to give birth to their calves for the year.

In most moose populations the calf sex ratio stands at 50:50 and in cases where the populations deviate from this ratio there is no scientific evidence to suggest why.

Calving season doesn't change a whole lot across North America. Almost all calves are born between May 1 and the middle of June. With Alaska being the earliest with calves hitting the ground right around may 1st.

You can expect to see cow moose with young any day now. Be sure to have your camera along with you to capture some of these cute young moose.
