Trail Cameras

I had intended on purchasing trail cameras for moose hunting and I wanted to see what I was missing in certain areas,. I was curious to see if there were moose using trails, visiting ponds and food sources, so as to determine a game plan.

What I had not counted on was the fact the camera would capture pictures of a wide variety of creatures that passed by.

The IR-7 camera sports 7 mega-pixel digital camera technology, with 46 LED's for capturing black and white images at night. Also included with this camera is the capability to capture video with sound.

Aside from using this camera for checking out moose movements, I plan to use the camera to capture pictures and video of other wildlife that visit my hunting area.

I know that the wolf population is quite high in the area; I have heard them howl on many occasions and found their fresh tracks along the trails I use. Ravens, Golden Eagles, Bald Eagles, Fishers, Bobcat and Lynx are just a few of the local wildlife species I hope to capture with digital images.

Last season we monitored the viscera or gut pile after we harvested our moose. It had completely disappeared in 72 hours. All that was left was flattened out grass and some stain from the stomach contents and blood. We are curious... what kind of animals and birds visit. We'll let you know... right here!

I'll be updating this page with images as well I'll give a full report on this camera.

Update: The black and white photo above was taken with the Spypoint Trail camera we purchased last season. I got several pictures at this particular location and I plan to put the camera in the same location again this coming season.

Also I am going to add one more trail camera to the moose hunting gear. Will it be a  second Spypoint Camera... you bet!

In the photo above the trail camera used was a Stealth Cam. That's a pretty good moose picture too.
